On Sunday, I was blessed enough to be able to put my theatre degree to good use. I was asked about a month ago if I would be willing to teach a bunch of kids how to apply theatre makeup. I jumped at the chance, and above are some of the great pictures that were taken from that day-including a young girl who was eager to turn into a boy. It wasn't so successful because obviously little boys don't have 5 o'clock shadows, at least I hope not. But she was a trooper and I loved her for it. I also could not have done it without my best friend, Alli, who was my assistant for the hour-long presentation. I made her look like an old hag, and she didn't want to kill me afterward. Now, that's friendship! lol.

Afterward, we met up with my family to have a nice pizza dinner at The Kitchen in Pasadena. Never been, but I highly recommend it if you're ever in the mood for great pizza. Seriously, the BEST pizza I've ever had in my life.

Please excuse some of the weird pics of me. I was in a good mood that afternoon, and was willing to look like an idiot. Haha!

(Mean Magazine)

One of my favorite editorials ever. Kate Beckinsale is perfectly styled and I am absolutely in love with everything in these pictures. From the bookcases to the vintage readers. Also, I cannot wait for my hair to grow out, so that I can cut it to look exactly like this. Can't wait!

I saw HP6 for the 2nd time yesterday afternoon with my beau. Needless to say, I fell in love with it all over again. But you know who else I've been falling more and more in love with, is Emma Watson. She's only 19, but she's already made herself a household name when it comes to fashion. Not only is she the new face of Burberry, but she's also been making the style blogging world eager to see what she'll wear next in promoting the movie. So far so good, if you ask me. Pictured are my top 5 fave looks from her, Ozzie Clark being number one. She's utterly amazing, and I can't wait to see more from her, both in her acting and fashion endeavors.

My Dad's Birthday x Three

My dad likes to celebrate his birthday for more than a day. That's the way it's always been. So, it only made sense for me to go back to my hometown and stay for a couple days and hang out. Especially since Harry Potter 6 was opening the following day, thus I had to see it with my sister. Can't really break tradition. On the first day, we all (including the husband, and my sis' new boy-Kenny) met up at this little Indian place in Pasadena. We walked around Paseo a little bit and saw Public Enemies with the gorgeous Johnny Depp. I liked the movie enough, but it wasn't the greatest. Then, it was off on an excursion to Target where my sister had to buy reading material for our day-long journey to see HP6 (more on that later).

I said goodbye to my love, because he had to work, but the next day was my dad's actual birthday. We celebrated by going to my Dad's favorite restaurant, Raffi's in Glendale. Seriously the best mediterrenean food you could possible hope for. So delish. It's too bad they raised their prices though...don't they know we're in the middle of a recession!? Sheesh. After that we walked around the Americana for a bit, rode the trolley, acted like tourists. It was fun times. Biggest downfall of the day though...not getting this beautiful purple jacket at BCBG. It was on sale for $60. And I didn't get it. And now, I completely regret that decision. Oh well.

And on the 3rd day, God released Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I had been waiting for this movie for quite awhile. It's been exactly two years since my best friend Sashell and I stood out in the blazing hot sun, amidst a sea of people in Hollywood waiting to catch a glimpse of Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe. And now the 6th installment is finally here. I arrived at 3pm, thinking I would be one of the 1st people there. I guess I've been off my game, because the line was already past the halfway point. I was beyond shocked, and when my sister showed up-she was furious. All in all, I waited a whopping 9 hours just to see the film-with 3 air breaks. It was pure madness, but well worth the wait. The film was exactly how I pictured it to be. And has easily surpassed The Prisoner of Azkaban as my favorite of the bunch. I'm seeing it with Geo again soon, because let's face it-I just can't get enough.

Can someone please grant me $415 to get this beautiful Rag and Bone maxi dress Blake Lively is wearing? If I can't have it, I'm afraid I just might die! Not really...but it is so incredibly beautiful, and I cannot help myself sometimes, when I really really really love something.

I actually adore both of the dresses pictured but for two completely different reasons. What can I say? I have a very eclectic sense of style.

Seeing GG onset pics, makes the withdrawals cease just a teeny tad. I still cannot wait for season III to begin though.

Got in yesterday from a 3 and a half day trip to Palm Springs. My 4th of July was spent with the hubs and the mother in law for some fun in the sun. I found out a couple of things about myself this past weekend:

1.) I despise the desert. Not only was it 115 degrees out for most of the weekend-but it was also a very DRY heat. Stings the eyes. It felt like my eyes were constantly in need of visine.
2.) I don't care for Palm Springs AT ALL. I really don't understand what all the hype is about. Everything was pricey. And it moves in a very ssssslllllooooowwww, snail-ish pace. I was going crazy just thinking about living there for more than 2 days. I'm a fast-paced city girl through and through.
3.) I could not. And I repeat...COULD NOT live without internet. The fact that I lived without it for a few days is a pretty big feat. Yeah, I'm not proud of it. But that's the fact of the matter.

I know it must seem like I'm a whiner, especially judging from the pictures above, it does look like I had a great time. And in all honesty, I did have somewhat of a great time. The BBQ's, the pool, the air-conditioned home-was all great. But the best part was seeing Janice. I hope you all had an amazing, fun-filled weekend.

Don't stop til you get enough

Edge

Circa early 2006

Back when I had edge...

I leave for Palm Springs for 4th of July weekend (really more like 5 days). I hope everyone has a safe and happy one. I'm also going to make it my personal goal to wear red lipstick the entire trip. Let's see how successful I am. ;p
