Let me be the call you seek...

I've been spending a lot of time at my alma mater the last couple of days. At times, I feel like I still go to school...and sometimes I do miss it. I'm participating in Geo's directing scene as one of his actors, and I've been going to see Into the Woods almost every night. Everyone asks, "don't you ever get tired of it? Sitting there for 3 hours?!" In all honesty, no... Its one of the best shows I've seen at CSUN, and one of my fave musicals at that. So, no-I'm not tired of it at all. In fact, if I could-I would probably see it every night. Anyway, the pics above are of me fooling around on campus yesterday before the show. My camera was doing this weird over-exposure thing, which was frustrating me at first, but I think it might have had something to do with the wind. Well, I'm actually pretty pleased with the results. It almost looks ghostlike...

Boring uniform pictures from yesterday. This is what I wear on a regular basis...when I'm not dressing up to go out and be glamorous. My go-to striped shirt and my utilitarian coat/jacket. Pretty conventional but comfy at the same time.

The Path Is Straight

My honey has been working on a musical- Sondheim's Into the Woods-for the past couple months, his last at CSUN. Last night, the long-awaited day too see it had arrived. Every time I'd hear him practicing around the house, the more excited I became. And last night, proved even more to me how lucky I am. He really is the most talented man I know, and is so deserving of everything. I'm gushing, I know but I can't help it. I was so proud last night-of him and my girl Danielle! The show was above and beyond everything I had ever seen. And I know I was in the last two prior musicals he directed (Tommy and Anything Goes), but as a whole, this is the best cast Garry Lennon's ever had.

The fam bam came with me last night, including my sister's friend Eddie, my girlfriend Reena, and my best friend Kate-so Geo had an amazing cheering section. Afterward, we went to Chili's to get some food in our starving bellies, and just hung around. It was a magical, perfect evening. I really can't wait to see the show again.

Want your bad romance...

When I was 15 years old, I was introduced to the late great Marlon Brando. My drama teacher announced that the musical for that year was to be Guys and Dolls, and upon doing my research I went out and bought the DVD. I remember my reaction vividly, as if it was just yesterday...my heart began to race not only by his astonishing Roman God good looks, but he was a force of an actor...who was this man? And how did I not know he existed until now...sure I had seen The Godfather years prior but I didn't put the two together. It was during my discovery (or rediscovery, I should say) of Brando, when I knew I really wanted to be an actor. I studied his every move, watched every film, read every book (I have countless films and books in my collection that I usually turn to when I'm feeling a little uninspired). He was my everything, and up until I met Geo...I thought there was no other perfect man in the world than him. Too much? Well it was...my entire high school knew of my obsession. So why bring this up, do you ask? Sometimes, when I think about my chosen career path, I start to question why I do what I do. Why I put myself through the heartache of rejection, and love the rush of waiting for an answer...and then I see him, and I am reminded. He is the reason why I fell in love with acting and always will be the main reason.

Now, put Brando and style in the same equation; and that's what I call a perfect score. While browsing Polyvore the other day, I came across a Dolce and Gabbana Brando tee! Of course, I wanted it, but for $135...it was a little too pricey for me. Still had loads of fun styling around it though, and here's what I came up with:

Bad to the bone

Oh I could spend hours on Polyvore! Which one is your favorite? And if you aren't already...

Whatever's meant to be, will work out perfectly...

After a year and two weeks, I finally got my hair done! Can you believe it's been a year? I'm so bad when it comes to hair maintenance, but the ends just kept getting worse and worse and I was getting tired of the two-toned look from my bad dye job last year. So who do I turn to? My friend Billy, who's been my hairstylist since Geo introduced us back in 2006. Sometimes, when he wasn't available and I was desperate I would go to someone else-but I rarely came out satisfied. So I trekked over to LuxeLab in Santa Monica to see him today. He had a few hours free, so he asked if I was available. I wasn't about to pass it up this time around-I've been putting it off for far too long.  He got rid of all of my dead hair, and put a ton of layers in it, so that when it grows out it looks long and lush instead of long and drab. I'm also back to black. It is my natural color, and the color that looks best on me-so I'm happy :)

Sorry for the craptacular quality of these pics. The first was taken with my blackberry, and the 2nd with photo booth. But I'm sure you guys get the gist. Hopefully I can get better pics of the hair later this week.

Yesterday was my best friend Kate's birthday! Since everyone was in town, who originally couldn't make it to her birthday festivities, we decided to all go out to dinner tonight instead of next week. We'll just do something else next weekend, I'm sure ;) It was so nice to have a wonderful dinner, with great company, great wine, and spectacular food. The food at Cafe Bizou is always top notch, and I highly recommend it if you haven't already been. There's one in Pasadena and one in Sherman Oaks, which is the one we always go to. If you recall, Kate and I had our graduation brunch there with our families last May. The evening was definitely one for the books, and bestie seemed so happy. I love her so much. And I'm so blessed to have her in my life. Happy Birthday Kate! xoxo

P.S. About the dress...a total steal-got it for $15, and it's vintage, and it has pockets! What more could you want? love.

Yesterday the girls, Richie and I went on over to Will Rogers beach in the Pacific Palisades to bask in some sun. It was pretty much the greatest day. There's really nothing better than relaxing and being with good friends. :)

More to come this summer, for sure!

I hope everyone had a HAPPY EASTER! Ours was a little tiresome, getting up at sunrise to get to a 9am service in Pasadena. We tried going to churches around here but we've gotten really picky considering how our church, All Saints, is well known all over the country...needless to say, none would really compare. After driving back into the valley, we had brunch with the Ackles clan, and enjoyed a lovely meal that consisted of ham, broccoli casserole and deviled eggs (among other things). And of course, what kind of Easter celebration would it be without chocolate!  I forget if I mentioned it on the blog, but chocolate is what I ended up giving up for Lent. And it was ROUGH! So I pretty much stuffed myself with all kinds of chocolate yesterday, and came home with a big 'ole tummy ache! The brunch ended with a mini earthquake. Did you guys feel it? Made for a really exhausting day...

P.S. I'm kinda obsessed with this family at the moment...

The Maddens off to Easter mass...I think they inspire me a lot right now, because I've sorta been into the whole bohemian vibe lately which Nicole Richie rocks like no other, and Joel's style sort of reminds me of Geo's-with the hats and the black, and just his all-around vibe. The only thing missing is a little Harlow...which won't happen for awhile-I can guarantee. :)

With your James Dean glossy eyes

I slept over my parent's house last night, to see my sister perform in her high school talent show. The show itself was mostly lackluster, but she was absolutely amazing. She belted out Lady Gaga's Speechless to an auditorium filled wall-to-wall with people, who were just as enraptured by her performance as I was-sealing the deal was the standing ovation at the end of it.  I was so overcome with emotion, that I started crying. I think it was because I had never seen my sister more confident than I had seen her last night. She always said I was the only one of the two of us who really had something in the performance area. But I always disagreed, and last night proved it.

The outfit is a little boring, I know. I was sorta channeling, who else, Olivia Palermo. And I figured out something...as much as I love Brogues, I just don't know if my body type looks ok with it. I feel like it shortens me. So I borrowed my sister's lavender Steve Madden ones for the evening. I guess perhaps if it was a different color of if I was wearing a dress, it would work better. What do you guys think?
