OSCARS 2012

I'm gonna start this off by saying, I was incredibly underwhelmed this year. Emma Stone, as much as I loved the dress probably wouldn't have been on this list-if there was someone else on the red carpet who completely blew my mind. Luckily the top 3 on this list surely did!

5.) Emma Stone in Giambattista Valli- It reminded me of Nicole Kidman's Balenciaga a couple years back. But she kept it fresh. And I love huge, dramatic bows so much that every time I see it on the red carpet, it puts a smile to my face.

4.) Angelina Jolie in Atelier Versace-I love this dress and how simply stunning she looked, but good God-what was with the posing tonight? She just had to show off that leg every second she could. But this dress was so beautiful. I just adore velvet-it's such a unique texture for a gown.

3.) Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton-This was by far the best she looked this awards season. Love the coral peachy color, which didn't really come across as well on screen, as it does in pictures. The tiers and the ruffles just suit her delicate frame so nicely.

2.) Rooney Mara in Givenchy-I think she's found her designer. She's been wearing Givenchy on the red carpet a lot lately, and it's no surprise. The architectural yet ethereal way the dress looks is perfect. She probably has one of the most beautiful faces in Hollywood right now. And her makeup and hair suited this dress so well. 

1.) Jessica Chastain in Alexander McQueen-She was the first person I saw on the red carpet, and I threw my hands up and said-"That's it!" As if no one could top it. And no one did. I was so surprised by her choice, because she usually opts for deep teals or pastels, and solid colors. I was definitely not expecting her to pull out McQueen. She looks so breathtaking, and during her red carpet interview-you can just tell she is probably the nicest person. Makes her that much more attractive.

Well, another awards season is over. And I always tell myself at the end of it, that perhaps I'll be on that red carpet one day. Until then, I quite enjoy doing this. Hopefully if/when I'm on that carpet in the future, I'll be on someone's best dressed list as well. Xoxo

The Oscars

To be completely honest, this was probably the best awards show-red carpet wise-I've seen in a long time. Everyone looked so beautiful, apart from a few disappointments (ahem-Nicole Kidman). But for the most part, everyone did such a fantastic job-really stepped it up. Here are my top 5 choices...

5.) Jennifer Lawrence in Calvin Klein Collection-She looked bangin'! She was one of the first people on the red carpet and she really had jaws dropping. I was blown away by how beautiful she looked. If I could hope for any type of body right now-hers would be it.

4.) Mila Kunis in Elie Saab-I mean come on! She is so hot, it's almost unfair. She looked so ethereal and romantic, which we don't see from her a lot. But the lavender is stunning, and I love how it hugged her body.

3.) Natalie Portman in Rodarte-I'm so glad she chose Rodarte instead of Dior (which was her rumored dress in the beginning) because Kate and Laura Mulleavy know exactly how to dress their friend to a T. The color was stunning on her, and this was definitely my favorite look from her throughout the whole awards season. 

2.) Mandy Moore in Monique Lhoullier- I saw the dress first, and I gasped. Then she turned around, saw it was Mandy, and gasped even louder. I have NEVER seen her look this stunning, ever! She is so breathtakingly beautiful, and she has been looking so good lately. That dress...my God-it looks like it was painted on her. 

1.) Michelle Williams in Chanel-This is the 2nd time I've chosen Michelle as my top girl. The first being the mustard one she wore when she was nominated for Brokeback. Those pictures of her and Heath will forever be some of my favorite pictures on a red carpet ever. But there's something so demure and delicate about this one, I just knew it was perfect. The hair and makeup was stunning too.

THE OSCARS

As you all know, Awards season is my absolute favorite season...it isn't Fall, Winter, Summer or Spring-it's Awards Season. Mostly due to the fact, that it is the one time in the entire year where the best of the best in the Acting world get to recognize and acknowledge one another for their contributions in entertainment. But it's also the time, when the best of the best in fashion get to be displayed. And this year was no exception! Last night's Oscars, in particular, brought about probably the BEST dresses I've seen in the last 5 years (as a whole). Needless to say, hardly anyone disappointed me, and it was very difficult putting together a worst dressed list-because I thought everyone looked stunning. But seeing as I've done this for a few years now-I couldn't break tradition. So starting off with my worst dressed...

WORST

5.) Miley Cyrus in Jenny Packham- See, the more and more I stare at this dress, the least I hate it. That's why it's 5 rather than 1, but there were still parts of the dress that really bothered me. Or could it be because it's on Miley Cyrus? I just don't like the way she's carrying the gown. With her back hunched over, and that sort of emo look on her face. I just didn't get it. Now if it was on Marion Cottiliard however-that's a different story. If that were the case, it might have even be in my best list. But even so, I think the corset part could have definitely been a tad longer.

4.) Maggie Gyllenhaal in Dries Van Noten-I really really wanted to like this dress, because I'm a huge fan of Maggie's. I just adore the Gyllenhaal sibs and I wanted to support. But...although she took a risk, I don't think it was the right one. I wanted something more architectural and modern on her because she can definitely pull those kinds of looks off. But this just looked a little ammatureish for her.

3.) Vera Farmiga in Marchesa-I'm a huge fan of Marchesa. Not so much with this dress. Again, I appreciate the risk, especially since her choices at all the prior awards shows have been a little bland. The color is beautiful. But she looks like a walking fan! And I didn't like the way the ruffle curved around her stomach like that. It made her look thicker in the waist/hip area. And she has a stunning figure-but unfortunately this dress didn't do anything for it.

2.) Sarah Jessica Parker in Chanel-Ok...breathe. Love SJP. HUGE fan. She's one of style icons, for sure. And I adore anything Chanel usually. But man, did I HATE this dress. I mean, I don't think I've ever felt like this with anything she has ever worn, so it was really shocking for me. What's funny is that my mother-in-law loved the dress...but I just don't even know where to start. Perhaps, I should just say, good attempt. Can't wait for you to calm me down at the Sex and the City II premiere!

1.) Charlize Theron in John Galliano for Dior-God, this frustrates me. She is such a stunning woman. Probably one of the most stunning faces in Hollywood. And then she goes with this! It looks as if two cinnamon rolls were taped on her breasts! That's the only thing I can focus on on this dress...and not her beautiful face. Plus the dress was wrinkly, which bothered me so much. It was just a wreck. But I'll always forgive her, because well, she's Charlize Theron for crying out loud.

5.) Carey Mulligan in Prada- She just looks so adorable, doesn't she? At first I wasn't too keen on the blonde hair, but I think she's working it well. This dress was very reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn's Givenchy (I think) dress she wore in Sabrina. But this sort of had more modern touches on it, like if you look closely at the detailing on the corset-it has keys and screws, etc...I thought that was pretty unique.

4.) (Tied) Diane Kruger in Chanel-This is the Chanel I love. I love everything about this dress, from the black and white, to the flower detailing, to the pleats. I just thought it was so sophisticated and fit her to a T. I have nothing to criticize about it at all. I just adore it. And I adore her.

4.) (Tied) Amanda Seyfried in Armani Prive-I'm not one for big dresses. But I thought this one had the best of both worlds. A really unique, architectural, corset top, and then a voluminous bottom. But I think what I love most about it is that it sort of looks like bubble wrap. I wish she had done something more interesting with her hair though. She has such gorgeous hair.

3.) Nicole Richie in Reem Acra- Well, who knew? I love Nicole Richie's street style, but to pull off the Oscars? That, I did not expect at all. She always looks good with more vintage styles and so this dress was pretty much perfect for her. The back of this dress was also breathtakingly beautiful. I thought she looked to die for.

2.) Zoe Saldana in Givenchy-Ok. Can I just start off by saying that when I first saw this on the runway, it took my breath away. And I wanted so badly to have someone wear it at the Oscars. So when I saw it on Zoe Saldana-who is fast becoming one of my favorites when it comes to style-I literally FLIPPED out. I know a lot of people might not agree with this, because yes, the dress is very fashion forward. But Zoe IS fashion forward. She just looks so regal in it, almost like royalty. And with that skin and height-she could seriously pull off anything, in my opinion. This would definitely be the dress I'd want to wear if I were at the Oscars.

1.) Rachel McAdams in Elie Saab-Do you ever get that feeling of when you first see something so beautiful, you take in a huge breath of air...but it just stays there? Well that's exactly what happened last night when I saw Rachel McAdams billowing through the crowds on the red carpet with this stunner. She looked like a walking painting. And looked as if she was literally floating on air. This is probably one of the best dresses I've EVER seen at the Oscars. So far nothing has ever topped Michelle Williams' mustard Vera Wang at the 2006 Oscars with Heath Ledger. Although, this one came very very close.

Should I just keep chasing pavements?

Just to warn all of you...this is going to be quite a long post. I haven't been blogging very much, and when I do it's just pics of what I wore, or the latest thing I want to purchase. And I know it's a little late but I wanted to talk about Sunday night's Oscars. There were so many great surprises, I don't even know where to begin. I really loved all the new changes that were made, especially regarding the acting categories. If I had those legends appear and rave about me the way they did with the nominees-you would have an extremely hard time getting me to calm down. I wouldn't know what to do with myself-I'd be a complete wreck. I was so happy to see Kate Winslet win. But I was kind of surprised that Mickey Rourke didn't win. He had been winning at every other awards show, and this is definitely his year-so that was a shock. And lastly-I was very proud of Hugh Jackman. He made the show so exciting, and uplifting. I hope he gets to host again.

Now onto what most of you care about-My Best and Worst Dressed List. I'm going to start with the Worst:

5.) Sarah Jessica Parker in Dior Haute Couture-I'm not going to lie. At first glance, I was kind of pleased. But as I saw more and more and more of it-it kind put me off. I've never been a fan of the Princess dress. As a kid, when everybody wanted to look like Cinderella-I wanted to look like Princess Jasmine. So, I never really understood the pouf look. Plus, her breasts are way too big for this dress. It kind of looks like she can't breathe.












4.) Jessica Biel in Prada- See I wouldn't have too much of a problem with this dress if it wasn't for the those stupid marshmellows coming out of her dress. For Jessica Biel, simple is almost always better. And even though the cut of the dress, and the color is pretty simple-that little "surprise" in the front, was just off-putting.











3.) Vanessa Hudgens in Marchesa-"Oh wow, that is a really pretty dress...oh wait...wait...omg! That's hideous!" If this dress hadn't puffed out at the end, it would've been so much better. It could've even been on my top 5. Well, who are we kidding? I absolutely despise Vanessa Hudgens and everything that has to do with High School Musical. And just the fact that they're invited to this thing, amazes me! Baffles me beyond belief!











2.) Miley Cyrus in Zuhair Murad- This girl just needs to stop. Her dress not only looks like a wedding cake topper, but it also makes her look so much older than she is. I'm so sick of these little girls trying to look adult. Geez, embrace the teenage years.














1.) Beyonce in House of Dereon-This dress is just so FUGLY. The gold and black is a pretty combination, but it just looks messy on her. I understand supporting your own line, and that's great for the Grammys. At the Oscars, it's a totally different kind of vibe. I just thought her dress was so wrong for the event.














Best Dressed


5.) Kate Winslet in YSL- She looks so old hollywood glam. The hair reminds me so much of Grace Kelly. The dress is very sophisticated and I absolutely love the lacing draping down the side of the dress. But the reason why she's number 5 is because the colors are just so drab, and a bit lackluster. I've definitely seen her in better dresses at Oscars' past. She still can do no wrong in my book, though.











4.) Reese Witherspoon in Rodarte-I love the colors of this dress. And the neckline is so awkward and off, but I love it. It's unique, and very unlike Reese. I wish I could've gotten a better picture of her, but she didn't walk the red carpet-which I thought was weird. But I loved the way the dress flowed on the stage, and it was such a nice surprise.












3.) Anne Hathaway in Armani Prive- She was glowing. I was so pleased, because I hated her dress at the Golden Globes. But wow, she looked like an old-school movie star. She looked like an Oscar. The fish scales was very reminiscent of Marion Cotillard's dress from last year, but since she was considered the best dress from that year-I guess it makes sense she would want to copy that. I wish one of these days, she would just let her hair down.










2.) Angelina Jolie in Elie Saab- This is what I call classic black. I love the fact that she coordinated it with Emerald jewelry. The focus went to her face, which is absolutely gorgeous to begin with-and the simple black dress, with the sexy slit-just makes the look so complete. No wonder Brad Pitt never gets tired of looking at her.












1.) Natalie Portman in Rodarte- There are two women wearing Rodarte on my list. I'm going to give this designer more attention. When I saw Natalie Portman wearing this...I just about died. Not only did she do a pop of color, in a sea of greys, navys and creams-but she did it with pink. A very risky thing to do while standing on a red carpet. She looked so understated sexy, and princessy without the fuss. It was gorgeous.

So there are my thoughts. Last night...was so much fun. The most fun I'd had in quite a long time. The entire cast and crew of Anything Goes went to see Minsky's at the Ahmanson. It was such a great memory to add to the already great memories I've gained with all of those people. As far as the show's concernced-it was okay. I was mostly wowed by the ensemble burlesque numbers than I was with the leads. But still, it was a great theatrical experience.

I felt like being androgynous today. I couldn't stay away from the brand new red lipstick I purchased yesterday, though. This is what I do, when I'm bored at school. Super excited about bloggin' my Oscar picks for Best and Worst dressed later today. Actually, it might not happen til tomorrow, because I'm going to be super busy the rest of the day. Who else saw the awards last night...it made my night! Kate Winslet finally got the recognition she deserves.

It's lunch time and I have no idea what to eat...hunger ensues. All I've had today is a piece of chocolate cake.

Lord knows, it would be the 1st time...

It's a glorious glorious day! The sun is shining, it's not too cold. I adore the weather right now, for it's perfection. I hope it lasts. It feels weird blogging these days, because school/rehearsals has officially taken over my life, and so I love the times I get to just relax and update for ya'll.

The Oscars are this weekend, and I'm not sure if I'm able to celebrate it to the fullest. I'll be doing makeup for a show that day until about 6. Hopefully, I'll finish beforehand, and get to just sit and be a wino for the rest of the evening-and drool over Robert Downey Jr.

Taylor Momsen in Siwy Jeans. I really need a good pair of charcoal gray skinnies. I love the way she dresses, but man-she needs to rethink that haircut. And does anybody know when new episodes of GG are coming back? I'm having withdrawals...

P.S. Happy 31st Anniversary to Mom and Pop. They're in Love. And I love them. So friggin cute.
