Yesterday was girls day. My mom, sister and I spent the day shopping, eating and taking pictures as always in our beloved Pasadena. But prior to that, I thought I would surprise my sister with the pair of shoes she's been coveting for the past year now-the Jeffrey Campbell Lita in taupe suede. Needless to say there was a lot of screaming and jumping up and down involved. I was so happy to see my sister that elated, that it made the purchase worth every penny. Happy Back to School sissy! 

On my front, I got a 2nd job with an amazing company called Timeless. I felt so blessed and proud of how well I've been doing lately that I decided to reward myself with a pair of JC's as well, except I decided to go with the Foxy's. They're pretty comfortable (stood and walked around for 4 hours straight) but the Litas are more comfy (Victoria was in them for 6 hours straight and didn't have to change) so who knows? I'll probably have to succumb to them eventually. ;)

Quelqu'un M'a Dit

A couple days ago, I had a photo session with one of my favorite photographers-Danielle Palomares. I feel like, aside from my hubby, she's the only person I trust to take a good photo of me. She has the most amazing eye, and always captures me in the best light. None of these pics were taken in a studio with fancy flashes. They were all taken outdoors, in natural lighting, in the heart of Old Town Pasadena. I'm always so satisfied with every shoot I do with her. I can't wait to start using these professionally. Every word you say I think I should write down...

June 4th, 1977

A beautiful cherubin baby was born...who eventually grew up to be an incredibly handsome and talented man...who eventually made me the happiest woman on the planet. 

We celebrated my babe's birthday with simplicity this year by going to our beloved Old Town Pasadena and basically just hanging out. 

Finally got a chance to see The Hangover II, which I have to admit-we were both extremely disappointed about. It was exactly the same as the first-to a T. Every single beat was the same, even the ending had no twist. But I have to say my adoration for Zach Galifianakis will never cease. He's wonderfully funny and brilliant. 

After that we did a little shopping, had cupcakes from my favorite DotsCupcakes, and chai lattes at Intelligentsia. It was a perfect afternoon, which ended with a super romantic dinner at our favorite Japanese restaurant Sushi of Naples.

I'm still taken by surprise...

As you can see I had a pretty stellar day. First off, I knew my sister was going to be in town this weekend for her bf's birthday. But we devised a plan a couple days ago, to surprise my parents. So neither of us told them, and my parents were in shock, when she jumped out from behind a couch at Crate and Barrel. My mom screamed in the store, and didn't have a care in the world who was looking. I wished I had videotaped it. It was a pretty spectacular moment. Then, we ate at Noodle World (I know, I know-it's like we never eat anywhere else) and I got a boba. Magnificent afternoon indeed. 

But then when I got home, Geo told me that one of our dogs (currently living with my mother in law) got out, and we haven't found him since. No one's called any of the numbers on his tag. And Geo is still out there looking for him. My high from earlier today was completely crushed, and now I can't stop thinking about Orvis. I hope he's ok. The thought of anything else, would just be completely devastating-so I'm going to put it out of my mind. 

It was really nice to be with my family. And laugh so hard, that tears start streaming down my face. And kiss my sister a trillion bazillion times, whilst she pushes my face away. Haha! It was nice. Everyone please think good thoughts about my doggie. xoxo

Edit: A women found our dog the following day, and we were all reunited soon after. I am beyond happy. Thanks for all the well wishes, I really appreciated it. :)

Across the Universe

Today was a day for my parents. I miss my sister a lot, but I love hanging out with my folks from time to time as well. We met up in Pasadena, shopped, ate at Noodle World (our fave), and laughed. It was a much needed break from all the packing and stressing due to the upcoming move. 

I'd like you to meet my beloved new cardigan. It reminds me of being in the desert and looking up at the stars, for some reason. I love the deep mustard/camel color of it, and the navajo print. And the way it just envelops me. It took me forever and a day to finally own it, and now I do. And I'm immensely happy. I miss my sister, she'd totally appreciate this sweater as much as I do.

She's a brick...

 

Today was hot. But it was also a very good day. It always is when I get to spend the day with the love of my life, in the city I love-Pasadena. Every time we get to go back to our hometown, it's such a treat. We had Father Nature's for lunch, where they have the absolute best lavash wraps in the world. We shopped for a bit, saw The Town (which was excellent btw) at the new Arclight, then had a lovely romantic dinner at our favorite beloved Sushi of Naples.  All in all, one of the best days I've had in a long time.  Especially...since I get to work ALL weekend. :(

P.S. This sweater is pretty popular among the blogging world. And at first I didn't quite get why...but it's so damn comfy and really fun. It'll probably end up being my go-to sweater.

Happy Mother's Day! 

Yesterday I went to the flower shop, got my mom some flowers, carpooled with my best and her beau to Pasadena to meet up for brunch with our mamas. We ended up going to my mom's favorite restaurant-Noodle World-which is like this Asian fusion type place and it was amazing as always. Simple but great food, which is always the best kind of food to me. Afterward we walked around...did a little shopping. I finally got the American Apparel cotton spandex jersey cross-back bra that I've been wanting forever-in nude! So excited to wear under everything. Anyway, yesterday afternoon was grand...I'll probably never tire of Pasadena.

To light the night, to help us grow...

The first picture is for the Forever Sweetheart contest over on Chictopia. I'm going to enter for a chance to win a gift card to F21. So that should be fun. Obviously I wish it was still daylight when I took this outfit picture, but we didn't make it.
However, yesterday was the best day I've had in a long time. In the Nuguid/Ackles household, Valentine's Day is usually meant to be every day. But this was the first year we actually made an effort to plan something. If you had our schedules, you'd understand...we hardly get a chance to see each other lately, with how busy he is. I don't like his new schedule at all-but it's just something I have to adjust to. So last night, we finally saw Avatar...FINALLY! And I was completely blown away. We both were...surprisingly. I thought it was probably one of the greatest films I've ever seen, in my entire life. Yeah, it was spectacular. Afterward, we headed over to Pasadena and got sushi at our favorite restaurant, Sushi of Naples. I've spoken of them many times on the good 'ole blog. But it really was the greatest night. I always have a good time when we're together.

I and Love and You

I had an amazing half weekend with my family in Monrovia. Thai food, The Kitchen and shopping in Pasadena, and Starbucks at the crack of dawn. It was loads of fun, and obviously I always enjoy spending more time with my partner in crime aka Seester. Ain't she the coolest? Much cooler than me, that's for sure. ;p

P.S. I kinda sorta lightened my hair. It's hard to see, because I went from being jet black, so it's really difficult to change up, but right now, it's sort of a golden chestnut. I don't know if you guys can tell from the pics. To me, it doesn't look very different.
