Today was a great day. Days off with my love are always great, because it's so rare for us to have them in the first place. We stayed around the better part of the valley, having lunch at Sweet Butter, window shopping, and catching a movie. Can I just say, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo has got to be one of the best films of 2011. I'm still reeling from how great it is, hours after seeing it. It's made me that much more obsessed with Rooney Mara. My one gripe, having to pay $15 at the Arclight since it's a holiday. We're loyalty members, but I keep forgetting to order my tickets online. The movie ended up being worth every penny-thank goodness.

In other news, the Golden Globes were last night. And every year, during awards season-I always do a best and worst dressed post. I decided to just go with the best only because I pretty much hated the majority of last night's fashion. Huge disappointments for a lot of people-cough Mila Kunis cough. But the 5 pictured above were standouts to me:

5.) Rooney Mara in Nina Ricci-She stayed true to herself. Loved the shaggy ponytail. She's just an epic beauty who doesn't really need much to stand out. Loved the cut-outs with the little bows on her dress. Enough girliness with a huge amount of edge.
4.) Emily Blunt in Elie Saab-Wish she would've walked the red carpet. She seemed annoyed when she presented, but it didn't matter because all I could focus on was her body in that amazingly beautiful dress. The color and the detail speaks for itself.
3.) Nicole Richie in Julien McDonald-I love that she's getting a little more glamorous. I'll always love bohemian Nicole, but I loved this side of her too. So sexy with the metallic dress and I love how she still incorporated her design with the House of Harlow clutch. And she's giving good hair!
2.) Angelina Jolie in Versace-I mean, come on! Just look at her picture. She's so regal on the red carpet, you just know you're looking at a movie star. A lot of people were making fun of the red fold on the dress, but that happens to be my favorite part. The dress would be boring otherwise.
1.) Charlize Theron in Dior Couture-My heart leapt when I saw her. She looked so angelic and ethereal, without looking schmaltzy. The tiered bow on the side was the right amount of uniqueness and fun. I haven't seen her look this good on the red carpet in awhile.

So there you have it. There are still a couple more awards-the most important being the Oscars. And I am super pumped for that. Hope you guys had a magical day!

Just some recent pics from my phone...

1.) My hair and makeup for the event I sang at on Saturday. I was going for a 40s vibe. My favorite decade.
2.) My Christmas present for myself. The gorgeous Winter Kate dress arrived at my doorstep last week, and was an absolute dream to put on. I've been fantasizing over the dress since I first saw it on Nicole Richie at an event a couple months ago. I can't wait to wear it to my best friend's wedding in March.
3.) I've been living in these red velvet pants from Timeless since I got 'em. They're so warm and so comfy. Plus it goes with practically everything in my closet.
4.) My sister and me at the event I sang at. It was so nice to have my family there to support. Plus the food was absolutely amazing. Especially the cupcakes.

Drinking in the morning sun

I hope everyone had a HAPPY EASTER! Ours was a little tiresome, getting up at sunrise to get to a 9am service in Pasadena. We tried going to churches around here but we've gotten really picky considering how our church, All Saints, is well known all over the country...needless to say, none would really compare. After driving back into the valley, we had brunch with the Ackles clan, and enjoyed a lovely meal that consisted of ham, broccoli casserole and deviled eggs (among other things). And of course, what kind of Easter celebration would it be without chocolate!  I forget if I mentioned it on the blog, but chocolate is what I ended up giving up for Lent. And it was ROUGH! So I pretty much stuffed myself with all kinds of chocolate yesterday, and came home with a big 'ole tummy ache! The brunch ended with a mini earthquake. Did you guys feel it? Made for a really exhausting day...

P.S. I'm kinda obsessed with this family at the moment...

The Maddens off to Easter mass...I think they inspire me a lot right now, because I've sorta been into the whole bohemian vibe lately which Nicole Richie rocks like no other, and Joel's style sort of reminds me of Geo's-with the hats and the black, and just his all-around vibe. The only thing missing is a little Harlow...which won't happen for awhile-I can guarantee. :)

The Sun ain't shining no more...

Photobucket

The title of this blog actually contradicts this post, since the sun is shining again in all it's wonder-hallelujah! I've been enjoying the 45 degree weather L.A. has been having lately-playing in the rain, and layering, and wearing scarves, etc...but I also miss wearing short tunic dresses, not worrying about my shoes getting wet, and basking in the sunshine. Today was a great day. I went to my class, and then enjoyed my afternoon with my best friend, Kate. Lunch at California Chicken Cafe was exceptional. I have been craving it for so long, since last week, and was extremely happy when I was finally able to have it. I always get their Asian Chicken salad. Yummy!

The weekend was amazing as well. It was rainy, so Geo and I stayed in the apartment and cleaned, and watched movies, and ordered pizza, and it was beautiful. I can't wait for the weekend. It's the only time when both of us can really enjoy one another's company.

Macy's was having a great sale on Sunday. Practically all their shoes were 60% off, and if you're wearing red, they give you an additional 20% off. I found these ridiculous Marc Fisher lace-up boots, that were originally $210, and got them for $45. How 'bout that!!! I'm actually wearing them in the pictures above. I needed to break them in a little bit. They're still pretty comfortable though. Um...let's see...everyone has been asking where Nicole Richie is selling her jewelry line. The last time I saw 'em was at Kitson at the Americana. I didn't see the headpiece though. :(

Also...
What do you guys think of the yellow? Yay or Nay? I've been getting a lot of positive responses, but it's also much brighter than this in person, so...yeah.

Hope this finds you all well!

Please Please let me get what I want...

Primark SS 09

I love ALL of it. But I especially want the pink dress on the left. How perfect would that be for Valentine's Day?! I always thought it was cheesy to wear red or pink on that day-but I'm thinking this year, I'm going to go all out. I don't care if Geo barfs from the cheesy-ness, I just want to play around. Who knows, by the time he gets home from work, I might not want to dress up too much. So, who knows...?

House of Harlow headpiece
I really really really want this headpiece. Every time I see a picture of Nicole Richie wearing it, I think-"How amazing would that look on my long raven hair?" haha. It would though, especially if I pair it with all of my boho dresses. But perhaps, I'll wait till it gets a little hotter.

I had an entertaining past couple of nights. I went to my hometown last night, to see my sister perform at my old high school. She was amazing. She sang with such subtlety, but it was incredibly touching at the same time. I teared up a little. And then, was so overcome with emotion, that I stood up immediately afterward and screamed-"I friggin LOVE YOU!" It was nice to spend some time with her.
And then tonight, I saw probably one of the best plays I have ever seen at my school. I was so into it. I was very pleased, satisfied, and actually surprised by how I was feeling. It was nice.
