All the right moves...

Last night, one of my best friends celebrated a milestone-graduating college. 

I have to say, it's been one hell of a week for me (in a not so good way), so a night with friends, Italian food, and wine was definitely in order. I am beyond proud of her, and I can't wait to see what lies ahead. She's one of the most talented people I know, so I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that she'll be a success in anything she does.

Congrats, boo. I love you!

So, I have this obsession with leopard...

Went to my alma mater last night to see my friend Dana perform in Arabian Nights. It was such a visually stimulating show. And she, as always, was magnificent in it. I got really sentimental walking down the hallways of Nordhoff hall. I can't believe it's been almost 2 years since I graduated, and that every time I'm there, the fewer people I know. Both Dana and Siera will be graduating in the spring. So I don't see me coming back to CSUN a lot anymore, unless it's to visit Garry Lennon (my mentor, and who directed me in 2 musicals). Although, with the new theatre building opening up, it might give us an excuse to drop by from time to time.

Sorry the pictures of my outfit are kinda bleh. George thought it best to snap pictures of me in motion, whilst waiting anxiously for Dana. Me, not so much. So I promise I will get a better picture of my new leopard babies soon. They're not the most comfortable, but they're lovely and any excuse to bring leopard into my life-well, it was sort of a "gotta have" moment.

As we go on...

My baby graduated magna cum laude from CSUN's school of theatre this morning. And although it rained (a complete 180 from last year's ceremony) everyone still came out to support. Including my family, who had to drive all the way from Monrovia at 6am just to make it in time for the 8am ceremony. Why they punish the theatre students by having it that early every year is beyond me. Not gonna lie...a few tears were shed for both Geo and my theatre friends who I have experienced so much with at that school. It was a very proud and rewarding moment for me. I really loved my graduation last year, even in the 100 degree heat-but you sure can't beat a short ceremony due to the prospect of a thunderstorm. 

So how does one dress for something so eventful, and yet so wet? Well, I stuck with my original plan-my amazing H&M garden collection kimono dress, that I still hadn't worn. I knew the sun would come out eventually...that or the rain would cease. So as we were waiting for the wonderful brunch that we were about to dive into at Cafe Bizou-we decided to take some pictures outside. I just had to take advantage of the now wonderful weather. Brunch at Bizou, as always, was absolutely amazing. I ordered the same thing I did last year. And you really can't beat their top-notch service and selection of desserts. The only thing missing was my bestie twin because she had to work. But AJ got to represent for the both of them. :) 

So thankful for today, and so happy for my babe. I love you, George. xoxo

Let me be the call you seek...

I've been spending a lot of time at my alma mater the last couple of days. At times, I feel like I still go to school...and sometimes I do miss it. I'm participating in Geo's directing scene as one of his actors, and I've been going to see Into the Woods almost every night. Everyone asks, "don't you ever get tired of it? Sitting there for 3 hours?!" In all honesty, no... Its one of the best shows I've seen at CSUN, and one of my fave musicals at that. So, no-I'm not tired of it at all. In fact, if I could-I would probably see it every night. Anyway, the pics above are of me fooling around on campus yesterday before the show. My camera was doing this weird over-exposure thing, which was frustrating me at first, but I think it might have had something to do with the wind. Well, I'm actually pretty pleased with the results. It almost looks ghostlike...

You've left me speechless...

These pictures were taken this past Sunday. Kristina and I ventured out to my favorite shopping destination-the Fairfax Flea Market. She had never been there before, and was super excited to see what all the fuss was about. Needless to say, neither of us were disappointed. I found a very cute, vintage polka dot dress, a leather jacket for the hubby, and Kristina found A LOT of things. Including a Karl Lagerfeld tee which I have to go back for as soon as I can go there, because I've been obsessing over it for the past couple days.
To refuel, we decided to go to Lemonade for lunch. We both had never been there- but it's been on my list of places to eat for a long time. So we thought, hey-why not? This place was a total win. Not only was the food healthy and exceptional, but it was also inexpensive and they have $1 cupcakes! I wish I had gotten 2! Anyway, that's definitely a place I would love to take George one of these days. Another plus from the trip? We saw Nora Zehetner-a super adorable Indie actress who was in Brick with Joseph Gordon Levitt (among other films). Yes, she was just as beautiful in person-perhaps even more so.

On other news...rather really upsetting news...I just found out my old school is doing not one but TWO musicals for their upcoming season. One being Cabaret! I think I cried for about an hour when I found out. Perhaps, this is a little dramatic...but since Cabaret is the reason I fell in love with musical theatre, and it's a song I had been singing since I was 5-it's only fair, I get to throw a tantrum. Sigh. Oh well, if it's not meant to be, it's not meant to be...and I can't do anything else about it. But to prove to myself that I would make a perfect Sally Bowles, I'll just have to watch this video over and over and over...

A Very Important Date!

Friday, March 5th was sort of an important day for the Best and me. As huge fans of anything Alice in Wonderland, of course this was going to be BIG day. So Alice (Kate) and her Red Queen (yours truly) embarked on our magical evening, which we had been planning for ever since we found out about it last year. Yeah, we're crazy fans...We were able to arrive early enough that we ended up being 2nd in line. And during the 2 and a half hour wait, we ran into some CSUN buddies of ours- Jake, Phil, Shauna, Gadi, and Brian. It was really cool to see them, and they all ended up right beside us in line. The group definitely kept the time moving, and we were all excited to catch up with one another.

All in all, the evening was a complete success! We absolutely adored Tim Burton's rendition of Alice, and I will always be a forever fan of Johnny Depp. Alice is a definite must-see. I think Kate summed it up best, "It's not going be a classic or anything, but if you go into it with the mind-set that's it NOT going to be the traditional Alice story-then you can just sit and enjoy the beauty of it all instead of nitpicking the entire time." So that's exactly what we did. And yeah, even though it was completely different from the Alice I grew to love-I was able to appreciate it's creativity and NEW brilliance. I hope you all enjoyed it, just as much as we did. :)

I am folded and unfolded and unfolding...

This was a couple weeks ago, but in honor of this weekend being the last weekend of summer (not for me-but for my honey and friends) I wanted to post these shots to make me savor it some more. I can't believe how fast this summer flew by. CSUN starts school on Monday and it's a little bittersweet for me. I'm happy to be done with college obviously, but sad about the crazy stuff I'll miss out on in the theatre dept. Oh memories...

So I'm an official college graduate. I can't quite believe it myself. It hasn't hit me yet, that I no longer have to go back to school-ever. It's a scary situation to be in considering how difficult it is to find a job. But I have a to-do lists, and I intend on accomplishing everything on that list. So it was a very emotional, exhausting, incredibly hot day. But it was also such a rewarding feeling, of finally having this degree, and I loved that everyone I love was there for me. The hubby played photographer for the day, and all the pictures turned out really well. I was quite pleased. After the ceremony, my best friend Kate and I decided to have our brunch together at Cafe Bizou, with our families. It was an amazing time, and I was incredibly happy. Now, on to the rest of my life...

p.s. the flower headbands Kate and I are wearing were handmade by me. If any interest is shown, I might open up an etsy account to try and sell them to people who might want one. So please let me know.

Highways Flew By...

The Met Ball was the other night, and it always excites me to see what my favorite celebrity style muses were able to conjure up for the wonderful evening. My faves from the night.

Leighton Meester. There are a lot of people who think this deserves to be burned, but I think it exudes confidence beyond her years. I admire her for taking a risk. She looks gorgeous!

Diane Kruger. I wish I had a dress like this for Graduation. :)

Kate Bosworth. I love the lacy-ness of the dress. It's very old hollywood glamour, and it fits her quite seamlessly.

Rachel Bilson. A huge improvement from last year's space suit/mermaid/thing. Teal has always been a good color on her. And even though the dress is a bit boring-she still pulls it off with ease.

Ashley Olsen-"OH shit!" That was my expression when I first saw her. I couldn't even believe it was her! The front looked so plain, but goddess-like at the same time. And then she turns around, and there it is! The design, the cut, the color-everything is just spotless!

In other news, Anything Goes is over and done with. And of course, I am a little sad about it. Mainly because it'll probably be the last theatre show I do in awhile. Especially since I will be embarking on a more commercial/film career path. I've been doing theatre for a long time now, and there are aspects of it that I'll surely miss-but I feel like my look and subtle way of acting will definitely be more beneficial in film and tv. But I miss my cast already, and I will certainly miss CSUN. This is my last week of school...ever. It's a strange feeling.

Yesterday was Danielle's birthday, so we decided to do an impromptu photoshoot out on the hill.

I love them, and will miss them so much once I'm done. But as sad as that is-we know we'll be keeping in touch, and I will certainly come visit them in their shows as often as I can. Two weeks from today-I will be a bachelor's degree holder! Holy cow!
