The Royal Wedding

I'm not sure how many of you actually watched the ceremony, but I've been anticipating this day since the announcement of their engagement last November. I watched in awe, as Kate Middleton stepped out in her gorgeous Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen wedding gown. It certainly did not disappoint, and was reminiscent of Grace Kelly's gown, which was always one of my faves growing up. I shed a few tears-not gonna lie-especially her procession towards Will and the exchange of vows. The ceremony was so magnificent and magical, it was definitely worth the wait. They are such a beautiful couple, and I wish them all the luck and love in the world.

Part II of our exquisite SB trip.
We went on a wine tour. A first time for me, and Geo had been dying to take me for years now, so we thought this would be the perfect time. Basically what happens is, a shuttle picks you up at your hotel real early, like 9:30. And there were about 6 other couples with us as well. We went to 4 different wineries: KOEHLER, LINCOURT, KALYRA and SOLVANG. The last one isn't really called Solvang, but it was pretty forgettable apart from the fact that it was in Solvang-hence what I'm calling it. The first 3 were amazing, but my 2 favorites were Lincourt and Kalyra. Lincourt was just beautiful with the barns, the sprawling vineyards, and the cottage like gazebos where we had our lunch. It was so picturesque and the owners had the cutest bulldog I had ever seen. He took quite a liking to Geo.
Kalyra is an Australian winery known for it's rugged style and quirky decor. It's the only place we bought a bottle from. By the last stop, it was already 4pm, and I was completely wined out. Maybe it's why I didn't enjoy the last one very much. But all in all, it was a great experience and one I cannot wait to do again-hopefully in Napa. We ended our long but beautiful day with burgers and fries from The Habit! There's nothing like greasy food after a long day of drinking ;)

And just to clarify...I did not get drunk on this trip. Surprise, surprise.

While everyone else I knew spent last weekend in Coachella, we decided to celebrate our 5 year anniversary by going to our favorite beach town-Santa Barbara. You must forgive me for the lack of posts recently. We were there for 4 days and just arrived home 2 nights ago-not to mention having to be back at work early the next day, sure has put me in a dead tired situation. So this trip will have to be split into several posts.

We left Sunday morning, boarded the train (barely making it, due to packing procrastination at its finest),  and quickly got into the swing of things. Our lunch was less to be desired, but we decided to take a walk along the pier to enjoy the art festival. George had the most brilliant idea to rent a scoot coupe. It was a blast, rolling around town in the tiniest car known to man. After that we finally got to relax in our hotel, and get ready for our beautiful anniversary dinner at Olio e Limone.  I'm still reeling over how amazing the food there was.  It was probably, with absolutely no hesitation or exaggeration, the best food I've had in a long while. Not to mention, they remembered it was our anniversary so our waiter brought out a chocolate mousse cake with a candle on top-like it was our birthday!

We walked back to our hotel feeling extremely joyful and fat. Haha!
More to come...

Make me better love

Eisley

There once was a band called Eisley, whom I discovered back when I was only 13 years old.  I had heard of this little band from Texas through a friend. She was really into finding great unknown music, and this song happened to be playing in her room...

And while I've never spoken of them or any music that's inspired me on this blog (kinda sad)-they've been a front runner in my life. A band that cuts through me emotionally, every single time I hear their  voices. Perhaps, it has to do with the fact that soon after I began listening to them-my sister had also gotten hooked by their fantastical and whimsical sound. Pretty soon, everywhere we went we sang their songs together. Me the melody, she the harmony. It was almost a requirement at family gatherings, that she and I would put on Eisley performances. It made sense for us...Eisley is a family band after all-consisting of sisters Sherri, Stacy and Chauntelle, with their brother Weston and cousin Garron.
It's been 12 years since I first heard Room Noises. Then in 2007, their second full length album Combinations was released. But it isn't until their latest album, The Valley (released just last month)-when I listened straight through, and cried my little eyes out. I've heard them grow from singing about being lost at sea and marvelous things, to now singing about their failed marriage, and broken engagement. It's the most personal and grown up album they've ever released, and it's my baby. To say I listen to it every day would be an understatement.  My sister and I will probably always have Eisley as one of our biggest bonds. We grew up with them, and felt every note and every word sung.  The last time we saw them live was at the El Rey in 2008, and it was such a magical night. So we're very excited to be seeing them once again at the Troubadour on May 15th. I have a feeling it's going to be pretty special.

A blazing, burning star

Finally, finally, finally got the budget friendly version of these beautiful Isabel Marant booties I've been obsessing over for as long as I can remember. Kate Bosworth just always makes it look so easy. It's a quality I crave when I get dressed in the morning. The boots arrive tomorrow-whoo!

After months of careful deliberation, I finally found the PERFECT utility jacket, or field jacket, or army jacket. Whatever the name may be. I just love the rugged look it provides, while still being able to dress it up. I found it at GAP, on sale, and the moment I put it on I knew. I can't wait to wear it constantly during my trip, with all of my lacey tops and cut-offs.
