You can't carry it with you if you want to survive

Best of 2010

Photobucket

Picking 10 of my favorite outfits this year, was just too hard. But I eventually narrowed it down based on the ones my readers and I both loved.
2010 was such an amazing year for me. I got everything I had ever wanted in my 24 years of life, all in one year. I told myself in January that it would be my main goal and I feel so accomplished knowing that I made it happen. 2011 will be the year of reclaiming my passion and creativity. I missed performing way too much this year, but I know that whatever I put my mind to, I'll do. So, I just have to work hard, think positively, and hope for the best. That's really all I can ask for. But I have the strongest faith that everything will fall into place very soon. I hope you all had a wonderful year, stay strong, and let's hope that next year is filled with lots of love, happiness and style ;)

My Christmas was absolutely magical. On Christmas Eve, I had to work in the morning-but when I got home, I was in full clean house and cooking mode. I was so excited to have my family over our house this year for Noche Buena. We got to eat, drink and open presents! And I was completely satisfied with everything I got. Funny but kinda awful story...I made a wishlist for Geo a few weeks ago which had this amazing Modcloth military coat included in it. He ended up ordering it for me, and when it arrived-he pulled it out of the box, and the thing looked like it was stitched together by a 5 year old. No joke, it looked more like $6 than the amount Geo paid for it. Needless to say, both of us were very upset and I was extremely disappointed since I had heard such great things about Modcloth. Now, I can't say this is my last time ordering from them, because I've seen so many other bloggers in their stuff-but I will definitely be more wary of what I get from now on.
So apart from that tiny glitch in my evening, the food was amazing, and the drinks and company were superb. Christmas Day was spent with Geo's side of the family at the Smokehouse in Burbank. I had never been, and they're apparently known for their amazing prime rib. I have to admit though, that the garlic bread was much more appealing than my main course. I hope you and your loved ones had a very Merry Christmas. Now, we have to wait another 365 days for the next one.*Sigh*

Gift exchanges with my best friend are always special. But this year, we decided to have a tea party. Little did I know how all out she would go, and I was extremely floored when I was welcomed with her Alice in Wonderland themed table set up. The tea, the pastries, the cucumber sandies-were all exceptional. Our gift exchange went successfully as well...I mean, she knew EXACTLY what I wanted and vice versa. It's a pretty great feeling, and she's a pretty amazing Best. Love you, Kate!

Date night tonight consisted of playing in Sherman Oaks. First up, dinner at The Stand-one of my favorite burger joints. But not only do they have amazing burgers, they also have hot dogs, sandwiches, salads, etc...has the retro feel without looking chinsy. Tonight I got the mushroom burger with sweet potato fries. It was heaven in my mouth-especially their chipotle special sauce. I don't know what they put in that thing, but it is damn good. Another treat for the night, was getting to see Black Swan over at the Arclight. This movie has been on my most anticipated list since probably March. I love Natalie Portman to death-I think she is one of the best actresses of our generation. And this film did not disappoint me AT ALL. It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time-acting, choreography, music-all brilliant. It's definitely one of those films, where after it's over, it'll leave you sitting there in shock and awe. Geo didn't quite share my enthusiasm with the film-but that was to be expected ;p.
Tonight was amazing.

My sister's home for her winter break, yay! To celebrate I met up with the fam bam for a lovely afternoon in Burbank. We caught up on some Christmas shopping, and brunched at Market City Cafe (one of my faves). Family time is always nice, especially being with my sister. I don't think I laughed so hard in months. She's quite a character, you see. ;)
14 more days til Christmas! xoxo

I wanna hold your hand

No, but really I do. I know it's a little late but this whole Beatles on iTunes thing? Really stoked. And yes, I used the word stoked to describe my feelings on the matter. Need proof?
Haha! No, actually this is a result of my mom (who is an even crazier Beatles fan than I am) forcing me to pretend I was "in the band!" LOL. She's a nut but I love her.

Last night, a few of my PCC girls were reunited at Josie's holiday party. It was my first time at her new place, and it looked absolutely beautiful. It had a very retro feel, and had quite the "old hollywood" charm. Needless to say, the evening was lovely-and it was amazing seeing some of my old friends again.

Catch my disease

So, I have this obsession with leopard...

Went to my alma mater last night to see my friend Dana perform in Arabian Nights. It was such a visually stimulating show. And she, as always, was magnificent in it. I got really sentimental walking down the hallways of Nordhoff hall. I can't believe it's been almost 2 years since I graduated, and that every time I'm there, the fewer people I know. Both Dana and Siera will be graduating in the spring. So I don't see me coming back to CSUN a lot anymore, unless it's to visit Garry Lennon (my mentor, and who directed me in 2 musicals). Although, with the new theatre building opening up, it might give us an excuse to drop by from time to time.

Sorry the pictures of my outfit are kinda bleh. George thought it best to snap pictures of me in motion, whilst waiting anxiously for Dana. Me, not so much. So I promise I will get a better picture of my new leopard babies soon. They're not the most comfortable, but they're lovely and any excuse to bring leopard into my life-well, it was sort of a "gotta have" moment.

HAPPY DECEMBER! xoxo

I'M THANKFUL FOR...

Family, my gorgeous sister who is also my best friend, my amazing group of bests (KBSDK) who love me no matter what, and my George-who makes me happy every single day.
My Thanksgiving was an amazing one. Every year, Geo and I get to celebrate it twice. Once with my family and once with his. Until we're able to house 15-20 people at one time, I just don't think we're able to have a Thanksgiving dinner all at once. That's another thing I want to add to my list of goals-get a house big enough for family events.
I love the fact that our family doesn't do a traditional meal-we eat things like roast of lamb, wild rice, spinach and artichoke dip, halibut, etc...The dinner we had with the Ackles clan made up for that. I love having Thanksgiving up in the Hollywood hills at his Aunt and Uncle's-their house is so beautiful, and they always create the most unique tablescapes. Needless to say, by the end of the night Geo and I were both so stuffed, we couldn't even move. :) I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

The title of my post is also the title of one of my favorite French songs by Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin. It's actually quite funny, the first time Geo heard me playing it he said, "Are they having sex or what?" It's a very sexy, sensual song. I was feeling very french on Sunday, and was reminded of the song-I played it over and over as I got ready. My look is very Parisian chic, non? :) I especially love my Zara top which I planned my entire look around. It says: Le sont les bons moments que nous gardons au fond de nous.  Which loosely, translates to These are the moments we keep (cherish) in our lives.  Thanksgiving came a couple days early with my theatre family. I had such a great time eating all of the amazing food people brought, and playing Apples to Apples (a game we used to play in the CSUN green room constantly). It was just a cozy, fun filled evening, with the people I keep near and dear to my heart.

Can't wait for the upcoming Thanksgiving festivities! I hope you all have a Happy Turkey Day!

It all ends here...

Photobucket

When I was 12 years old, I picked up a book at the library called Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.  At first I thought I would be too old to read the series and was hesitant on borrowing it. Little did I know how much my life would change after that day. A bit dramatic right? But in all honesty, this series has been with me for literally HALF my life. I followed these characters and watched them grow up right before my eyes.  I've made traditions with my sister and my family while reading them and watching the films.  So needless to say, seeing it come to a close (almost) is a bit bittersweet. Sad to see it end, but happy for its success and what it gave us-something to cherish forever, and something I can't wait to read to my kids someday.

Yesterday, Geo and I made a day of it. We went over to Glendale, had some yummy Portos for lunch, and came straight over to the Americana for the 3 o'clock showing. Luckily there was no line when we got there, because soon after we arrived-it became a mad house. I cried, I laughed, I mostly cried. It was an exceptional movie which really did the book justice. I can't wait for Part II.

I have to say, at first I wasn't sure about Emma Watson's new do. But the more I see it, the more I feel it suits her personality and style. She looks like a modern day Twiggy. Here are some of my favorite looks from the promo tour:

My favorite is the last outfit. She looked stunning and ready for her new journey. Out of all the HP actors, her career is the one I find the most promise in. She's grown up to be such a truthful actor, and exceptionally beautiful. She shouldn't have any trouble at all after this.

My outfit yesterday. It was very cold. And I didn't wear enough clothing...Sorry for the poor quality. I'm so excited to see my sister in a few days! And Thanksgiving!! One of my favorite holidays-because I get to eat anything I want, without an ounce of guilt. Love it. :)
