Make me better love

Eisley

There once was a band called Eisley, whom I discovered back when I was only 13 years old.  I had heard of this little band from Texas through a friend. She was really into finding great unknown music, and this song happened to be playing in her room...

And while I've never spoken of them or any music that's inspired me on this blog (kinda sad)-they've been a front runner in my life. A band that cuts through me emotionally, every single time I hear their  voices. Perhaps, it has to do with the fact that soon after I began listening to them-my sister had also gotten hooked by their fantastical and whimsical sound. Pretty soon, everywhere we went we sang their songs together. Me the melody, she the harmony. It was almost a requirement at family gatherings, that she and I would put on Eisley performances. It made sense for us...Eisley is a family band after all-consisting of sisters Sherri, Stacy and Chauntelle, with their brother Weston and cousin Garron.
It's been 12 years since I first heard Room Noises. Then in 2007, their second full length album Combinations was released. But it isn't until their latest album, The Valley (released just last month)-when I listened straight through, and cried my little eyes out. I've heard them grow from singing about being lost at sea and marvelous things, to now singing about their failed marriage, and broken engagement. It's the most personal and grown up album they've ever released, and it's my baby. To say I listen to it every day would be an understatement.  My sister and I will probably always have Eisley as one of our biggest bonds. We grew up with them, and felt every note and every word sung.  The last time we saw them live was at the El Rey in 2008, and it was such a magical night. So we're very excited to be seeing them once again at the Troubadour on May 15th. I have a feeling it's going to be pretty special.
